Our Services and activities

A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

(John 13:34, 35)

This instruction of Jesus Christ is very close to our hearts.  It translates into lovingkindness and tender care for our families, our communities, our church, our fellow worshippers, our world, and it is a way of life.

Love is the core of Jesus’ teachings and we endeavour individually and collectively to live the truth he taught.

Our church is run by our members and our Pastor is The Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy.

Sunday Services - 11:00am

OkM0SI3YFirst Church of Christ, Scientist, Bedford hold services every Sunday at 11:00am. Our services are very simple and are led by two readers elected from our members. We sing hymns and pray. We also listen to readings from the Bible and our textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. These two books are our Pastor.

Available every day of the year, click here for the Bible and here for Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. You can read some of the linked Bible and Science and Health passages that all Christian Scientists are studying this week.

Sunday School - 11:00am

Here in Bedford we have a Sunday School which starts at 11.00am and is open to young people up to the age of 20. This is an opportunity for children and students of all ages to find out more about their relationship to God.

The Bible and the Christian Science textbook Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures form the basis for each lesson, using the spiritual interpretation to understand more deeply Jesus’ healings and how they came about.

Young people realise the relevance spiritual healing has to all types of problems in today’s world and each child, from the youngest to the oldest, is able to prove for themselves the teachings of Christian Science.

A warm welcome awaits you!

Wednesday Testimony Meeting - 8:00pm

We also have Testimony Meetings every Wednesday at 8:00pm. The most important aspect of these meetings is the time set aside for those present to share accounts of healing that they’ve experienced through their understanding of how much God loves everyone.

The readings from our Pastor are chosen by the reader to meet a current local, national or international need.

Our church was founded on Christian healing, so these Testimony Meetings are a vital part of our activity here in Bedford. They’re open to everyone, so do come and find out more!
